  1. A lot of my stuff is saved in Google Drive, so for the most part I was ok, but one really annoying thing is that iPhoto was no longer on my computer, which I use quite a bit. I went to the App Store to re-download it, but it said you need OS X 10.10 to download iPhoto. And my computer doesn't support any OS past 10.7. So I'm kind of stuck.
  2. I have macbook pro running OS 10.7.5 and want to upgrade iPhoto to 9.4.3 from 9.2 (my other macbook has os 10.7.5 and iPhoto 9.4.3) I can't find 9.4.3 on app store but it won't let me install it any o read more.

Faces to see.

The Faces feature helps you sort your photo library by the people in your pictures. It automatically detects and even recognizes faces in your photos. iPhoto uses face detection to identify faces of people in your photos and face recognition to match faces that look like the same person. That makes it easy for you to add names to your photos. And it helps you find the people you’re looking for. Clicking the Faces view shows you a corkboard featuring a snapshot for each person you’ve named. iPhoto suggests a set of possible matches you can confirm with a click. Use the new Find Faces view to quickly find other people in your photos who haven’t been named yet. After you’ve put names to faces and faces to names, sync them to your iPad or iPhone and take them with you.

Places to go.

Never again stare blankly at your photos pondering, “Now where was this taken?” Places in iPhoto allows you to search and sort photos by location, using data from any GPS-enabled camera or iPhone. Don’t have a GPS-enabled camera or iPhone? You can still use Places by adding your own location information: Just start typing and iPhoto instantly gives you a list of locations to choose from — including points of interest like the Eiffel Tower or the Empire State Building. iPhoto also uses reverse geocoding to convert a photo’s location data, such as its latitude and longitude coordinates, to friendly place names. Want to add places to lots of photos? Select an Event, an album, or a group of photos shot in the same place, and iPhoto can add your location information to all of them at once.

Events to remember.

iPhoto automatically organizes your photos by Event, so you don’t confuse that shot of your best friend celebrating her birthday with the one of her celebrating New Year’s. When you connect your camera or insert your SD card, iPhoto groups your images according to the day they were taken. That’s a comfort to both the perpetual shutterbug and the chronic procrastinator. If you like, you can turn multiple Events into one large Event. Just drag one Event onto another to merge them. And you can label each Event with a meaningful name, like “Mark’s recital” or “Riley’s graduation,” so it’s easy to find everything. Thanks to iCloud, iPhoto can even import your Photo Stream images for you and organize them as Events.

Make each photo its absolute best.

iPhoto gives you everything you need to fix your photos. Remove red-eye with a click. Adjust exposure, brightness, and contrast. Crop to frame your subject. If you don’t know where to begin, click the Enhance tool and watch iPhoto automatically fix underexposed or dull photos. From there, you can try a few more tricks.

If you want to make the colors in your photos pop — without affecting skin tones — adjust the Saturation slider. To improve clarity and enhance detail, experiment with the Definition slider. To make spots and blemishes instantly disappear, use the Retouch brush. With iPhoto, you don’t need to be a professional to make your photos look that way.

Experiment with effects.

Have as much fun tweaking your photos as you do taking them. With iPhoto effects, you can convert color photos to black and white, try a classic sepia tone, add a vignette border, and more. Experiment without fear: A click of the “None” thumbnail removes effects and returns your photo to its original state. In fact, any edit you make in iPhoto is reversible, so you don’t have to worry about losing your originals

Email good enough to frame.

Your photos look fantastic. So should the email you share them in. iPhoto ’11 turns emailed photos into something much more fun and creative than mere attachments. Everything happens right in iPhoto; you don’t even have to open Mail. Start by choosing an Apple-designed theme like Announcement, Cardstock, or Collage. Then just select your photos and watch as iPhoto places them in the template automatically. Swap the position of one image with another. Pan and zoom for just the right focus. Change the size and style of your text. Even attach high-resolution versions of your photos. iPhoto automatically formats your message, so it’s always the perfect size.

Facebook friendlier.

iPhoto is an even bigger fan of Facebook now. Not only can you use iPhoto to change your Facebook profile picture, but you can choose to upload photos directly to your Wall or to an existing album. If your photos have names you’ve added using Faces, iPhoto converts them to Facebook name tags. iPhoto even displays your Facebook photo albums — whether they were published with iPhoto or another application. What’s more, when your friends leave comments on your photos, you’ll see them in iPhoto.

Flickr with a click.

Sharing on Flickr is just as easy: Click the Flickr button and post images directly to your photostream. When you share your photos on Flickr, the locations you added using Places appear on Flickr photo maps.

Take some photos to go.

Want to keep your photos with you? Use iTunes to wirelessly sync specific Events, Albums, or even Faces to your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Or you can have the photos you import from your camera or SD card to your library added to your Photo Stream in iCloud automatically. Then you can enjoy and share them on any of your iOS devices.

Enjoy a few choice memories.

iPhoto slideshows are so cinematic, they’ll take you back to the very moment each photo was snapped. Choose from a dozen animated themes that each do something spectacular. The Places theme, for instance, uses the location of your photos to create a map where you jump from one location to the next through the lens of your camera. iPhoto slideshow themes include professionally designed layouts, titles, and transitions that make a perfect backdrop for your photos. Face detection in iPhoto automatically centers and frames shots with people in them. So the focus of your slideshow is where it should be.

Click a theme to play a full-screen slideshow — accompanied by any song from your iTunes library. Fast-forward or rewind your slideshow using the filmstrip. Reorder photos, set the length of time individual photos remain onscreen, or, with some themes, choose different transitions. When you’re happy with your slideshow, export it as a QuickTime movie that’s sharable on the web and playable on any Mac, PC, iPhone, iPad, or iPod.

Popular apps in Image Editing

I bought a new macbook pro 10.7.5 on ebay. When i got it i noticed it didnt have iphoto, so i went to the app store and tried to install it, but when i do it says, 'iPhoto can’t be installed on “Macbook HD” because Mac OS X version 10.9 or later is required.' If this is the case, is there still a way i can get iphoto?

Iphoto 9.0 For Mac Download

If it originally shipped with 10.6.8 or earlier, install iPhoto from the computer's original disks. If you don't have those, ask the seller for them or phone AppleCare and order replacements.
If it originally shipped with 10.7 or newer, upgrade the computer to Mac OS X 10.9. If you don't want to upgrade it, go to the Mac App Store main page, choose Support under Quick Links, contact Apple, and see what they say.

    G5 xServer Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Jamie,
As you found out, iLife is meant for personal computers, not an Xserve, therefor why it refuses to install.
You can find a lengthy discussion at MacSlash and other places on the web by doing a google search for 'How to Install iPhoto on an xServe'
We cannot tell you how to do this on these Apple discussions.

  • how to install iPhoto after upgrading to yosemite?

Download it from the App Store as Matt suggested. You may have to move the current version to the Trash Bin (don't delete yet), go to the App Store and look for iPhoto 9.6 under purchases. It will be free.
What iPhoto version did you have prior to the Yosemite upgrade? If it was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll also have to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 on your library before opening it with iPhoto 9.6.

But the current AppStore version needs MacOS 10.7.5 or 10.8.2; there is no way to install it on Snow Leopard. The Trial version can be installed, but you need to purchase a serial number, and that you will find only with the retail version in the box.

  • Hi Guys,
Anyone can tell How to install minilyrics in Mac OS x 10.7?Or Any player for mp3 +lyrics.

You're problem isn;t with the install of Putty, you haven;t even gotten to that yet. You're problem is with updating MacPorts.
Is this the first time you have installed and try to run MacPorts? Have you installed the correct version of MacPorts for your OS version? Do you have Xcode and the command line tools installed?
Also there is this from the MacPorts page
    Selfupdate
If you already have MacPorts installed and have no restrictions to use the rsync networking protocol (tcp port 873 by default), the easiest way to upgrade to our latest available release, 2.3.1, is by using the selfupdate target of the port(1) command. This will both update your ports tree (by performing a sync operation) and rebuild your current installation if it's outdated, preserving your customizations, if any.
Make sure the port required is opened also.

You will have to reinstall OS X. In the future ignore such things. Don't click on any links or dial any phone numbers. They are all phishing scams.
Deleting Safari was not a solution.

  • I'm using iPhoto on both my Mac, iPhone and iPad. After the new Photo Stream and the new iPhoto iOS app has been released I think it is all started to get a little confusing. Here is some of my thoughts.
    1) When I delete a photo from my Photo Stream the photo gets deleted on all my devices. Nice. On my Mac, iPhoto is for instance creating a 'mar. 2012 Photo Stream' event, where all photos from the Photo Stream is keept -- also the deleted once. That's OK. On my Mac I can cleanup these events by deleting the unwanted photos. All my photos are synced to iPad but it seems, that I cannot cleanup these events on iPhoto on my iPad. Is that right? I'm able to 'hide' the photos from the events, but that does not delete them -- and they are still visible on my Mac after their are synced.
    2) I have an 'Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit' making me able to import photos from my camera to my iPad, which I do daily when I'm on vacation. I thought that I could just import the photos to my iPad, put them in an event/album, edit/retouch them -- and when my iPad gets near my Mac the events/albums gets synced to my iPhoto on my Mac (without having to import them to the Mac manually). But it seems that the Camera app on my iPad is just putting the imported Photos in the 'Last Import' album. How is Apple thinking we should do this? I cannot find a way to move them to an Event.
    3) Generally, the difference between Albums and Events in iPhoto iOS seems unclear. After the new iPhoto for iOS was released, I was hoping that I could edit, retouch and choose the best photos from an Events and put them in an Album. I can create a Journal with these photos but that is not always what I want. For instance if I would like to make a slideshow for my TV, it would be nice to have a clean album where only the best photos from an event. How is Apple thinking this should be done?
Please tell me how you are using iPhoto on Mac and iOS. For me it does not work perfectly.

Not only do they not work perfectly, they do not work together at all. Pretty much the only thing they share is a name. They are quite independent apps. Editing history on one can not be carried over to the other, so you can't start working on shots on one device and continue on the other. Events, Albums etc have no relation with each other and so on. Perhaps the next version of iPhoto (for either OS) will move them closer together but at this time they have no relationship at all.
    Regards

  • I want to install Windows 7 on my MBP mid 2012 but in Boot Camp does not appear the check box: 'Install or remove Windows 7 or later version'. I continued with making the USB bootable with Windows 7 but then when I restart and boot with the USB I still can't install Windows because then I receive an error: 'Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of GPT partition style.'
From OS with Boot Camp I didn't manage to make a partition for Windows instead I made one with Disk Utility (formated FAT).
After booting from USB that partition was also formated into NTFS necessary for Windows. Still the same error.
Any idea how to install Windows on my MAC?

My Windows copy is a X64.
MBP mid 2012 with Mountain Lion 10.8.3.
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro9,2
    Processor Name: Intel Core i5
    Processor Speed: 2.5 GHz
    Number of Processors: 1
    Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
    L3 Cache: 3 MB
    Memory: 4 GB
    Boot ROM Version: MBP91.00D3.B08
    SMC Version (system): 2.2f41
    Should have:
    MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)
    MacBookPro9,2
    MBP91.00D3.B08 (EFI 2.9)
If you are refering to this I tried to update the EFI version (I see only SMC version 2.9 as a diferrence of what I have) but on installing I received an error: 'This software is not supported on your system.'

  • Following hard drive replacement I now have Snow Leopard. I tried to install iphoto and DVD only from iLife 09 disk but could not find a way to install them only.
The full bundle will use all the free disk space I have which is 4 gbs. Following install of SnowLeopard from new disk iphoto and DVD did not install.

You can do what you want
    BUT
you need a minimum of 10 GB of free space for normal operations so you need to find a way to reduce disk usage - 4 GB is not enough and will cause slow operation and possible damage to systems or data
You seriously need to free up disk space - moving your iPhoto library to an external drive may be the answer -
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the 'select library' option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive
