I think, ideologically, the guitarist should be a part of a band, not the reason for the band's existence. Now, sure, Michael Anthony, Alex Van Halen, David Lee Roth and Hagar all had their share of influence, but it's pretty much Eddie's show. All those people are replaceable, one of them by some little shit born in the Bush administration.
Eddie Van Halen Alex Lifeson
Compilation of my favorite Alex Lifeson guitar solo's 5. The Analog Kid 4. The Camera Eye 2. Natural Science 1. Funny how Alex Van Halen married the sister of Rush's manager (Ray Danniels). Maybe that is why Eddie poured his drink on Geddy Lee's tape recorder!:D tongue.gif Actually, you may have it backwards. Probably Geddy, being pissed off at Eddie for all those years after having his tape ruined, hooked up Alex and Ray's sister. Van Halen dusted off some old, not very good demos. Alex Lifeson is playing at the top of his game right now. Not only can he shred - but he continues to grow as a player. Some of his most beautiful moments are so subtle and nuanced you almost miss them.
